Get that "hog" on the road!
A motorcycle endorsement is required to operate motorcycles or motor scooters.
Written and driving tests are required. Schedule the written test first, pass it, then schedule your road test.
1
Pass the Written Test
Drivers applying for a motorcycle endorsement should be familiar with the Montana Motorcycle Supplement.
2
Pass the Driving Test
Skill tests are offered from April to November (weather dependent). Motorcycle road tests are NOT given on wet roads.
Drivers who successfully complete a Montana approved, Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course may have the driving test waived. You must present your MSF card.
3
Keep it Renewed
Motorcycle endorsements expire at the same time as your existing MT driver license. You must renew your license six months prior to, or within 1 year after, the expiration date on your license to avoid retesting.
Do you have an MSF Certification from another state??
You must fill out a Motorcycle Skills Waiver Application (21-1304) and mail it to the MVD headquarters office in Helena. Once the waiver has been approved, you can schedule a written test (if needed) or add the motorcycle endorsement to your license.
